2 days in florence, italy
Let me start off by saying two days just isn't enough to enjoy the beauties Firenze has to offer, but sometimes life hands you lemons and you have to make lemonade! So if 2 days is all you have this itinerary will surely please anyone passing through!
DAY 1:
DAY 1:
- Enjoy an Italian breakfast i.e. espresso, cappuccino + flaky pastry (my favorite bianco e)
- Hike up the bell tower, which gives much better views of the duomo and I suggest earlier the better to beat the crowds and hot Italian sun! (Full price 15€ and children 6-11 3€ discount)
- If you feel like enjoying some gelato after your stair master workout check out gelateria edoardo (cash only!)
- Next head to the Accademia which is home to Michelangelo's David (ticket prices nearly double in peak season so check prices online may save some euros!)
- Lunch time! Head to All'Antico Vinaio - don't fret the line moves fast! (if the ginormous sandwich seems daunting they offer a half size for 3.50€)
- Now head to the San Lorenzo leather market and BARTER BARTER BARTER they always bring the prices down trust me! (All the leather goods make great gifts too)
- After all that hard work of shopping, gelato may seem like the obvious choice so head to grom or gelateria santa trinita)
- Now would be a good time to stroll through the city, check out the Ponte Vecchio, Santa Croce, or even Santa Maria Novella!
- (make dinner reservation for later) IMPORTANT because tables often get booked quick because meals are events in Italy!
- Dinner Time ( Trattoria 13 Gobbi, Osteria Santo Spirito, La Giostra etc.)
- If you want a low down on eating your way through Florence go check out my food guide for Florence
- Drink wine, eat carbs, sit back and relax because you are on Italian time
DAY 2:
- Time for another Italian breakfast and I would suggest News Cafe or Ditta Artigianale
- Next head to Uffizi and spend the morning there, because there is plenty to see from artists like Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Botticelli. You really get a taste of the Italian Renaissance with a visit to this museum!
- Lunch time! Again for a full list of some good lunch spots head to my food guide to Florence, but my recommendation for a short stay would be to head to Gusta Pizza or the second floor of Mercato Centrale
- After a fulfilling lunch head over to Palazzo Pitti and I recommend buying the garden ticket as well and strolling through the beautiful Boboli Gardens, they don't disappoint!
- Might be time to refuel with some gelato and to make that dinner reservation for later!
- Now for my favorite view of the city head up to Piazzale Michelangelo! ( When you cross the Ponte Vecchio there is a Conad to the left grab a bottle of wine and some cups and bring it up there!)
- Enjoy the live music, wine and good company!
- For your last dinner in Florence I highly suggest 4 Leoni
- Hope you enjoyed your time in Florence-- if you ever come back there is much more too see! Ciao!
